▼ PM Modi takes place as statue constructed at Madame Tussauds   [04-29-16]

A statue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was placed along with other world leaders at Madame Tussauds in London on 28th April 2016.

  • The leader’s new wax figure arrived at the Baker Street attraction fresh from Delhi, where Mr. Modi had a private viewing with his likeness last week.
  • The figure is featured in the famous attraction’s popular “World Leaders” enclosure alongside present day leaders Barack Obama, David Cameron, Angela Merkel and Francoise Holland, as well as political leaders of the past including Mahatma Gandhi and Winston Churchill.
  • Mr. Modi’s figure is dressed in his signature Kurta in cream with jacket and he is featured in a traditional pose making a namaste gesture.
  • London’s figure is one of four created of the statesman, the other three being in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok.

Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (I/C) and Civil Aviation released a Commemorative Coin of Rs. 200/- and a Circulation Coin of Rs. 10/- on Tatya Tope on the occasion of his Martyr Day on April 18.

  • A leader of India’s First War of Independence, Tatya Tope was a patriot of the highest order.
  • He was captured by the British Forces on 07 April, 1859 and after a hurried trial for waging war against the East India Company, he was hanged to death on 18 April 1859 at Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.

Birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar, architect of the Indian Constitution and Dalit rights activist would be at the UN for the first time with the aim of combating inequalities to attain sustainable development goals. Permanent Mission of India to the UN in association with the Kalpana Saroj Foundation and Foundation of Human Horizon will celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of the Dailt icon at the UN HQ.

  • Ambedkar is the Father of the Constitution. He was born on April 14, 1891 and died on December 6, 1956.
  • He was posthumously conferred with the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award for India in 1990s.

Ministry of Tourism felicitated Mr. Patrick Farmer, a former Australian MP and his team following the successful completion of the 4600 km Spirit of India run from Kanyakumari to Srinagar. He is a multiple record holder for endurance running and has run from North to South Pole and across Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam as well as the Middle East and North America.
