▼ NSFA implemented in 11 states   [02-27-15]

Allocation of foodgrains to 11 States/Union Territories (UTs) namely, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab and Rajasthan has started under the Act based on the preparedness and identification of beneficiaries for coverage under the Act, reported by them. NFSA provides for coverage of upto 75% of the rural population and upto 50% of the urban population of the country for receiving foodgrains at subsidized prices under Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS), corresponding to which State-wise coverage has been determined by the Planning Commission.

▼ Nationwide Soil Health Card Scheme launched on 19thFebruary 2015 to assess soil health and fertility   [02-24-15]

The Soil Health Card scheme will be launched at a rally in Suratgarh town in Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan. The scheme is aimed at providing soil health cards to over 14 crore farmers in the next three years to check overuse of fertilisers in farm lands. Under the scheme, farmers will be issued a card after scientific analysis of the soil of their farms.

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Ministry of Home Affairs are undertaking a special recruitment drive in Kupwara area of Jammu and Kashmir. Over 10 corporates from across India will be visiting Kupwara for a two day recruitment drive on 18th and 19th February 2015. The corporates from various sectors including Finance, Tourism, Human Resource, Construction, Automation and Information Technology & IT Enabled Services will be scouting for fresh talent from the border district of Kupwara.

The Narendra Modi government has plans to renew the 10-year old Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and name it after the first BJP prime minister. The renewed scheme will now be known as Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
