Fighter Pilot In IAF

Asked by: Guest - 07 Aug 16
I want to become a Fighter Pilot in Indian Air Force. I have just passed my 12th PCM and applying for graduation. I want to check whether there is any way for direct entry into Indian Air Force for the 12th pass students?

The first eligibility criteria for becoming a Fighter Pilot in IAF is a male candidate. Candidates can either apply after 12th through NDA entry, or they can complete their graduation and then check out the option for fighter pilot in IAF. Here being a 12th pass aspirant, the student should have passed 12th science with PCM and should possess a age below 19years. NDA entrance examination is conducted by UPSC twice a year. Students can apply online and clear all the rounds of NDA examination viz. written exam, SSB (Services Selection Board), and then Interview. These rounds are divided into sub-sects of tests which may get spread out in around 5 days time.

When the students manage to clear these rounds, they are then supposed to appear for PBAT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) to test the potential of Flying branch applicants. After clearing this test, students then need to go for the physical and medical tests which includes the weight and height ratio, physical and mental health, hearing and vision, chest expansion, bones and joints health etc.

After completing all these rounds, the All India Merit list is created. Those who manage to get in through the merit are admitted for the training program for becoming Flying officers at IAF. These pilots then have the probability of becoming fighter pilots at IAF after the training.
