    - The process in which a metal is first heated and then plastically deformed by using a hand hammer or press to obtain the an object of desired shape and size is called as forging.

    - At forging temperature, when a compressive force is applied on the material, it deforms plastically in the direction of least resistance.

    - In this process, the material is heated upto forging temperature. At this temperature, elastic properties disappear completely.
