Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology a premier institute under Council of Scientific and Industrial Research has signed a long term MoU with Sickle Cell Institute Chattisgarh(SCIC) an autonomous institute in Raipur.
  • Sickle cell anaemia is a serious disorder of haemoglobin metabolism and prevails in states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha and Chattisgarh.
  • This is an inherited form of anaemia where the body lacks healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to different parts.
  • MoU combines clinical skills of SCIC with the molecular biology expertise and genetic testing experience of CSIR-CCMB under which both institutes will strive to lower burden of sickle cell anaemia in Chattisgarh.
