    - Iron-Carbon system of alloys, phase composition and their transformations occurred during cooling or heating are described in iron-iron equilibrium diagram.

    - δ- ferrite:

    1) It is solid solution of carbon in iron which is soft and ductile.

    2) It has body centered cubic structure.

    3) In δ- ferrite, maximum concentration of carbon is 0.09% at 1493° C.

    - Austenite has face centered cubic structure. Orthorhomic crystal structure is observed in cementite which is an inter-metallic compound of iron and carbon having carbon content of 6.67%.
