    - The process of giving known inputs to an instrument and obtaining corresponding output is called as calibration.

    - This process is repeated number of times with different inputs and the corresponding outputs for each different input are recorded.

    - When, a curve is plotted with the help of these input-output values, then the curve is called as calibration curve.

    - The input-output relationship can be established with the help of the calibration curve.

    - This input-output relationship helps in taking reading directly while making an instrument.
