    - Different types of loads acting on machine components are:

    1) Impact load: Suddenly applied load with a velocity is called as impact load. Different operations performed under impact load are blows of hammer, punching operations, etc

    2) Fluctuating load: Load varying in magnitude and direction are called as fluctuating loads. Parts subjected to fatigue failure must be designed for fatigue failure. Bending moment on rotating shaft is an example of fluctuating load.

    3) Static load: Load applied gradually which has no change in its magnitude, direction or point of application with respect to time is called as static load. Load due to dead weight is an example of static load.
