    The velocity of water jet at the inlet of turbine is the velocity of water jet out of the nozzle. A water jet strikes the bucket at its splitter. It splits the jet into two parts.

    Consider,

    H = Net head acting on Pelton wheel

    Cv = coefficient of velocity of jet

    g = Acceleration due to gravity

    The velocity of water jet at the inlet of turbine is given by the formula,

    V = Cv2gH
