Q.  A helical gear transmits power of 2050 W and has helix angle of 25o. If pitch line velocity is 15 m/s then what is the maximum tangential force acting on helical gear tooth? (Assume Ka = 1 & Km = 1.2)

    Given: Ka = 1, Km = 1.2, Ψ = 25o, P = 2050 W, V = 15 m/s

    Formula: Ft max= Ka Km Ft
    But Ft = P/V
    Substituting the values of P & V we get value of tangential force equal to 136.66 N

    Therefore, Ft max = 1 x 1.2 x 136.66
    = 164 N
