    Given: Force = 150 N, mass of block = 5 kg, velocity = 40 m/s

    Formula: F = ma

    According to Newton's 2nd law, rate of change of linear momentum is directly proportional to impressed force.

    1) F = ma

    150 = 5 x a

    a = 30 m/s2

    2) Using kinematic equation, v = u +at

    40 = 0 + (30 x time)

    Time required to attain velocity of 40 m/sec by the block is 1.33 sec.
