    Given: Axial load = 8 kN, Dm = 30 mm, λ = 9° , Φ = 7°

    Formula: Torque required to overcome thread friction (T) = (Wdm / 2) x tan ( Φ + λ)

    Solution:

Substituting the given values we get,

    (T) = (Wdm / 2) x tan ( Φ + λ)

    = (8 x 103 x 30 / 2) x tan (7 + 9)

    = 34409.44 N-mm

    = 34.40 N-m

Torque required to overcome thread friction is 34.40 N-m
