    - The highest stress which a material withstands without breaking is called as fatigue strength.

    - In S-N diagram, the graph plotted between fatigue strength and number of stress cycles becomes horizontal for ferrous materials.

    - The graph becomes horizontal at 106 cycles. This indicates that fatigue failure occurs beyond 106 cycles.

    - The graph never becomes horizontal for non-ferrous materials and so these have no endurance limit.

    - Endurance limit: The maximum value of completely reversed stress which a standard test specimen can withstand for infinite cycles is called as endurance limit.
