    Torsional pendulum or Trifilar suspension system is used determine mass moment of inertia of a flywheel or disc.

    In this method, the flywheel is suspended by three strings and is rotated by an angle θ. After releasing the disc or flywheel it oscillate with simple harmonic motion.

    Frequency of oscillation = [ (x / 2 k π) √g / l ] cycles / sec

    Periodic time of oscillation = 1 / fn sec / cycles
