    - VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) is a broadcast domain that is partitioned and isolated in a computer network at the data link layer of the OSI model.

    - VLAN allows network administrators to group host together even if the host are not on the same network switch.

    - It breaks up the broadcast domains in a layer 2 switch internetwork.

    - VLAN increases network security, perform address summarization and reduces network congestion.

    - It provides a very high level of security with great flexibility for a comparatively low cost.
