    - Series of numbers obtained by geometric progression are called as preferred numbers. The basic preferred series are R5, R10, R20, R40 and R80.

    - Series of numbers offered by geometric progression are called as preferred series. These series are obtained by geometric progression.

    - The standard diameters preferred are 10 mm, 12.5 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, etc which are excepted over wide range.
