JAD (Joint application design) is similar to brainstorming. Unlike a couple of hours for brainstorming, JAD sessions last for typically about 3 days. JAD produces high level, specific software models including data, functions and behavior. It also has a facilitator and includes documentation, fixed and accurate requirements and business rules. It might also include DFD’s, object diagrams, E-R diagrams etc as well. JAD is often combined with prototyping leading to maximum efficiency for requirements elicitation process.
