Cisco Campus Placement Process


Founded in the year 1984, Cisco Systems, Inc has its headquarter in San Jose, California. Cisco derived its name from the city San Francisco and the company's logo depicts the two towers of the Golden Gate Bridge.

With the employee strength of 73000 plus, Cisco is an American multinational Company which designs, manufactures and sells networking equipment.
Cisco mostly stays on top of Fortune "100 Best Companies to work for". In 2011, Cisco was at the 20th position. In the year 2002-03, Cisco was awarded the Ron Brown Award which recognizes companies "for the exemplary quality of their relationships with employees and communities".

Eligibility Criteria:

In order to qualify for the campus recruitment :

• Students should be B.Tech /B.E/M.Tech graduates in streams like Information Technology, Applied Electronics, Electronics and Communication and Computer Science.

• MCA graduates also qualify for the campus recruitment.

• The student should not any supplementary papers in graduate or post graduate courses.

• The students should have at least 65% marks in the qualifying exam.

• The students should have good technical knowledge about security, algorithms, development of software codes and functional specification, computer networks and databases.

It has been observed that the campus placement process is not the same and differs as per the post applied for.

Placement Process:
The campus placement procedures in Cisco has two rounds –

• Written Test

• Technical and HR Interview

The Written Test includes objective type questions involving the following sections –

Section 1: Aptitude and General Reasoning

In this section the students can expect 20 questions with the time limit of 30 minutes.

There will be questions based on ratio and proportion, permutation and combination, percentages, sets and relation.

The students can also expect questions based on age and blood relation. It will also include questions based on coding and decoding, directions, etc.

Section 2: Technical Knowledge

In this section the student can expect about 30 questions with a time limit of 30 minutes. There will be questions based on virtual memory, micro processors, Java, Flip Flop, Number representations, sorting techniques, Digital logic designs.

In addition to this there will also be questions based on C++ and C. The students must also have good knowledge about data structures and also about software quality assurance.

The students who clear the written test successfully qualify for the HR and technical interview.

Technical and HR Interview:

Before starting the interview the student is expected to introduce him/herself to the interviewer. There is no separate HR interview. This round is clubbed as one with a few questions based on technical and a few HR questions.

In order to clear this round the student should have sound technical knowledge. In the technical interview, the interviewer may ask the student about the project done by them in their final year.

The students can expect questions such as

• What are the uses of quick sort ?
• Where is context free grammar useful for?
• State the reason for preferring CMOS over NMOS?
• Explain what is meant by Data Structure?
• On what does the virtual memory address capacity depends?
• What is OSI layers and state its functions?

It has been seen that after the technical questions the students can expect a few general Hr questions by the interviewer.

The interviewer may also ask the student, the reason for choosing Cisco and what do you know about Cisco. The students should thoroughly read about the company and try to gather information about the company before attending the campus placement.

In addition to that, the student can expect questions about their personal background, their salary expectation , etc. This is the last and final round of Cisco Campus Placement.
