Tanmay Bhatt deserves an action for his Snapchat video!

Indian stand-up comedian Tanmay Bhatt, co-founder comedy sketch group AIB, called for unwanted trouble when he posted a video on YouTube wherein he used Snapchat to swap faces with Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar. Tanmay Bhatt used profanity in the video where he talks nonsense, not at all funny spoof, hurling insult at each of the characters.

All hell broke loose when the video was made the topic of a panel debate on Arnab Goswami’s show and ever since then the infamous video seems to have received more viewers than before. No wonders Mr. Goswami is mocked for being down in the dumps about everything under the sun.

While actors and famous personalities have taken to social media to show displeasure about the video, some political heads have taken the moment to put police to use and arrest Tanmay Bhatt. Meanwhile, Mumbai police contacted Google and have requested them to delete the controversial video which is derogatory and contains profane comments.

Yes:

1. Unfunny: The 2 minutes video under debate is not the least bit humorous to begin with. The video is simply dull and offensive. It seems like Bhatt was having an extremely boring and jobless day when he decided to do something this retarded or he was perhaps drunk enough to upload something this worthless in the first place. It makes us re-think of all the comic attributes of Tanmay Bhatt that made us roll with laughter. This man seems to be only good when he is with his entire group of AIB to keep him from doing such foolish mistakes.

2. And against whom? Even if Tanmay Bhatt wanted to test if he is any good all by himself, he shouldn’t have been this insane to pick spoofs on the two remarkably proficient people in their fields. Sachin is the God of cricket in India and Lata Mangeshkar stands for the purest form of music that Indians could worship. Bharat Ratna recipients and the idol of millions – did Tanmay really think he would get away with hurling insults at them?

3. Cognizable offense: When you hurl insults at a self-proclaimed God in India, you get jailed. When you offend those who for their legendary contributions have been raised to the respect of God by people, you are in for a real trouble. In the video, Tanmay is seen comparing Tendulkar to Kohli and concluding that Kohli is far better than Sachin. He is also seen making offensive comments on the old age of Lata Mangeshkar. The popularity of these legendary people is far more than the capacity of jokes that Tanmay Bhatt’s potbelly can contain. His comedy has been liked by so many people but the numbers can go down if he doesn’t apologize for this one grave mistake. The guy should have taken a hint from The Kapil Sharma Show incident.

4. A lesson to learn is pending: Last year AIB came up with a roast that was highly offensive and vulgar, made personal and explicit comments at some senior actors and actresses and was downright improper. 4 PILs were filed but no further action was taken even though people did protest in large number. Perhaps this encouraged the group to repeat mistakes whenever they felt short of publicity and viewers – hurl insult at national icons and brag limelight for a few months.

5. Impervious: Tanmay Bhatt seems all unfazed and casual after the whole incident where he is condemned for the offensive spoof by everyone across the nation. He still thinks it is funny and has demanded Snapchat to pay him for the ugly potato of a face he was born with and tried swapping it using filters to make it look any better. Having failed at that, he is still unapologetic which calls for some serious action against offensive insult in the name of comedy.

No:

1. Bad joke is not a crime: People everywhere make fun of politicians and celebrities. Politicians make derogatory comments on each other. Tanmay Bhatt is a comedian who is known to crack some really witty jokes too at the AIB spoofs and his television show that was airing few months back, yet we do make fun of his fatso appearance. That is freedom of speech we are talking about. It is agreed that the video was total nonsense and offensive, not the least bit funny but that doesn’t make him a criminal to be tried and tested at courts and police stations.

2. Destroying a career: He isn’t at such a big fault to be arrested and then made to appear before court for posting a nonsensical video spoof. Under political pressure, police and judiciary might act totally against Bhatt his career as a comedian could be ruined. If we recall the previous YouTube videos of the AIB group, we can agree that the guy has talent and could do much better than to be arrogant and waste his time making such videos. He deserves a chance to let go of this incidence with a simple apology and continue to entertain people the way his group has been doing for years.

3. It was intended for fun: Along with the video, Tanmay Bhatt did express that the spoof is a total nonsense of what he is experimenting at Snapchat. He also added that he loves the two legendary icons and holds no grudges against them. His hypothetical conversation between the two, mimicking them and hurling insults at each other was never supposed to be a matter of national interest if it wasn’t for the boredom and unusual way of seeking entertainment of Mr. Arnab Goswami.

4. The two are cool about it: Both Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar are silent and calm over the matter. They do not care and do not intend to cry foul over the matter. These are the only two people who had the right to be offended by the spoof but their calm shows that they are far above the standards of being moved at such petty issues. People need to take inspiration from these icons and stop making a bigger issue out of unnecessary things.

To those of us who have accused Tanmay Bhatt of doing the whole episode for the sake of getting some limelight, we need to remember that by making the debate so popular, we are only fulfilling his accused wish. If we could stop paying attention to the nonsense that Bhatt created, it would not have garnered so much popularity as to become viral over the internet.

There is no humor or comedy in the entire Snapchat video by Tanmay Bhatt but that doesn’t call for a case or police complaint followed by arrest. There are bigger issues to concentrate on rather than arresting a potato faced comedian for being what he is – a big fat ugly potato – when he has no serious comedy to do.

Tanmay Bhatt, an Indian stand-up comedian, also the co-founder of the youngster’s all-time show, AIB, was recently in the controversy for insulting two of the Bharat Ratna holders- Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar, by a video, which was considered quite illegal and disappointing.

    Yes:

Video was ofapprox. 2 minutes, that was unfunny. It seems that he was sitting in leisure and so created the video.

This was aninsult to both the iconic persons and for the viewers too.

As per Indian Judiciary, defaming great personality is a serious offence and land one in jail.

Video showed that Tanmay was comparing Sachin to Kohli and figuring Kohli better than MasterBlaster.
If Tanmay had not apologized, his show’s TRP would have declined.

    No:

Everybody has freedom of speech. So, it is not a big deal if he created a video. It’s a comedian’sjob to create matters which can funnily entertain the public.

Yet, video was unfunny; still he can’t be criminalized for that.

People themselves use to make funny stories on celebrities or politicians.

It is known to all that the AIB guy, Tanmay Bhatt is a talented one.

He should be given another chance.

But, no one took any response for that. This shows that people have other things to do else than highlighting this side of the issue.

According to a news report, in an interview, Lata Mangeshkar broke her silencesaying that, “she was very disappointed with the spoof made, but that was a small matter and there are far better issues in life”.
She even didn’t watch the video as she doesn’t get affected by petty things, because, she has faced enough hardships since her childhood, she added.

It would be better that one should concentrate on his own job, instead of discussing about “Fatso’s” activity.
