Should Narendra Modi not have invited Nawaz Sharif to India?

Indians are surprised as they never expected Narendra Modi to go ahead and invite Pakistan premier Nawaz Sharif on his swearing-in ceremony. The step to invite Pakistan PM is attracting shower of praises as well as criticisms from all over the country. It is a big step in history of India. However, the swearing-in ceremony is on the verge of turning to India-Pakistan affair by this invite. What is your say?

Yes, he should not

• It was the time to focus on domestic problems first than focusing on the relationships with the foreign countries.

• The time during election and after the election is quite sensitive time. It is not sensible to take such kind of steps at this time that can lead to aggression in country.

• Herat Attack clearly indicates what Pakistan wants. They are in no way favoring the invitation of Narendra Modi.

• Pakistan has created Talibans and it is the country that is still supporting Talibans. What on the earth makes Narendra Modi to invite Nawaz Sharif on oath taking ceremony.

• The motive is not peace but to help Adani Power who intends to export the electricity to Pakistan.

• Narendra Modi has always opposed the opposition parties to go ahead and talk with Pakistan who behead Indian Soldiers. This invitation doesn’t prove his thoughts that stated that terror and talks cannot go together.

No, its good he invited

• Change is the need of hour. With the new government, Modi will try to mend the relationships with Pakistan.

• Even if the motive is to help Adani export electricity to Pakistan, it will ultimately benefit the Indian economy.

• It will fetch the good will points to Narendra Modi in front of the other countries and media by inviting Nawaz Sharif on the ceremony.

• Indian Muslims are supporting the invite of Narendra Modi clearly indicating that the step has managed to bring Narendra Modi in good books of Indian Muslims.

• It seems as if Narendra Modi wants to bring in the real picture of Pakistan in front of the country by sending the invite.

Conclusion

There is no reason or basis to invite Pakistan premiere Nawaz Sharif to India. At this moment, the invite can only create problems for India and that is clearly visible by the attack happened on Indian establishment in Afghanistan. As of now, the moment of celebration does not call for any such action that goes against the national interest.

  • Pakistani entered into separatist talks despite a no from foreign ministry.. Hope now Mr. Modi understands why inviting Nawaz Sharif on oath ceremony was not a justified step..

  • According to my point of view he might have invited Pakistan PM after a short period this might lead people a good thoughts about Narendra Modi. This will create a good releationship with musilms in pakistan. This invitation might not create much problem but people who voted him and selected will reduce their confidence in them.

  • According my point of view he has taken good step inviting Nawaz Sharif.
    1. If in future Pak attacked India it would be a shameful act in front of the world.
    2. Modi has set an example that first make enemy to understand with if not we will take other steps.

  • yes i thnk inviting PM of pakistan was a good step for building up the relationship between the two nations. problems, agitations have 2 b faced always... that may b at this point or somewhere later. to invite nawaz sharif in india could b also seen in a different vision that if we maintain a good relation with pakistan it may reduce terrorism on a large scale. if v start exchanging goods n services tht will increase the economy of india n more countries will approach india. sometimes friendship with the enemies becomes important if something has 2 b solved peacefully.

  • in my point of view .
The step taken by modi has its pros and corns
    pros..
it is a good step to build up the external affairs between our enemy countries like pakistan so that in future the relationship would go in a positive way.
It may also be a good idea of modi to gain the support of muslims in our country.
    corns..
it is not the right timing to invite nawaz sharrif ..he could have waited for some time
this step may create agitation in supporters of modi.

  • This was an unwanted step to invite Nawaz Sharif for the swearing-in ceremony. Swearing-in ceremony is an important affair for the country and its citizens, and there is no requirement to make it an international affair. Mr. Modi might be well aware of the pros and cons of this big step that he has taken. This could lead to agitations throughout the country, as sending an invite to the Pakistan PM, the country with which we are facing too many problems every now and then, is a very sensitive issue.

Sending an invite to Nawaz Sharif cannot be categorised to be all that bad; but since India is going through fragile relations with Pakistan, this move was not required at this point of time. After taking the oath and getting into the power, sending invite to the PM of the neighbouring countries could call for the talks between the two nations, but an invite at the swearing-in ceremony seems to be more of a personal invitation rather than the relation between two countries.

Modi would have analysed the things well before going ahead with the invite, and must have some other plans in mind as well. Still for the people of India, especially those who haven’t elected Modi as their preference, would definitely find this to be a hard step to accept that easily. Modi could have acted otherwise regarding this invite, instead of getting into such a big gambling.
