  • Pre-employment drug test is justifiable just as medical test just before joining a company. The career aspirants will refrain from taking drugs out of fear of being caught and rejected. It is wonderful way for the company to filter out drugs addicts. A sportsman has to undergo such test and it really helps to control drug addictions in sports. We can also initiate such rules in various other organizations to thrash this poison out the society. We enjoy demographic benefit in India, by introducing such norm we can keep our youngsters focused and work for the prosperity.

  • Drug testing or for that matter pre-employment drug testing is not incorrect, as this has a justified reason. The employers who are going to bear the cost of their employees definitely have the right to know the factors hampering their work quality.

But if we think wisely, the pre-employment drug testing would not be of any help. The employees will also be aware of the testing procedures, and a serious person fetching a job would certainly find out a crack for the same, or can stop taking the drug for some period of time. On the other side, if any of the employee is actually sick and undergoing medical treatment might have the possibility of giving positive test. This would end up in his job loss without any fault of his own.

Also, the employers would require spending a huge amount on conducting such random tests from time to time. The same amount will be penalised from the employees indirectly which would be a part of their pay which would be incorrect. Precisely, though the idea seems convincing, but such drug testing wouldn’t be much efficacious practically.
