Women should not work in night shifts.

Women should not work in night shifts.

Introduction

The recent step on the Amendment of the Factories Amendment Bill tabled in Lok Sabha on lifting the bar on the women’s working hours during the night shift have created the topic for discussion and debates regarding the women’s restrictions and security. Though BJP is more towards the business enhancement by making the night hours open for the women in the factories, the Congress on the contrary is debating over the security and safety of women in the society. The Congress spokesperson cum Congress’s women’s wing leader Shobha Oza has come up with the strong opposition on getting this bill passed, projecting the security concern prevailing in the city. Even the Left Parties are against the amendment of this bill. With an increased crime index against women in the city, would it be wise to get the Act amended? It is the voice of many others that Women should not work in night shifts. What is your say?

Yes

- Women’s safety is actually a matter of utmost concern at present. With a fear of security of the females going out for work, the families couldn’t live a relaxing life.

- Congress has very correctly come up with the point of transportation of the working class in the factories, which would be public transport by default. We have already visualised the rape and sexual assault cases during the late night hours in the public transport, which highly alerts the women folk.

- Women also get afflicted by health concerns more as compared to men by working in the night shifts for prolonged period.

- Women have the dual responsibility of taking care of the house as well as the professional life. A balance becomes very difficult during night shifts especially for the married women.

- Children at home demand the attention and care of mother at night, who would be deprived of their basic emotional instinct by the night shifts of women.

No

- Women are living their life in the liberal world, and restricting them of their right to freedom is not fair enough.

- Women are highly competent, and the business class is working round the clock to meet the global clock. In such a scenario, the business demands the support of our women to grow the economy of the nation.

- Women need proper rest and nourishment to take care of their health. The health concern is not necessarily a concern only with the women working in night shifts. There are females who remain healthy despite working in night shifts.

- Women of present generation are smart enough to manage both family and professional life simultaneously. And we can find the change in the thinking of men folk who try to help their spouse in the household works.

- Children are much matured now-a-days and they understand the necessity of their mother working for their better upbringing. They know the value of time and requirement and maintain harmony adjusting to the prevailing circumstances.

- If we are worried about the safety of the women, we should focus more on strengthening the law and order rather than stopping women from working in the night.

Conclusion
It is very obvious that the working females could make a better economy for the country and provide a better living for their family. But working in the night shifts is definitely not safe with the prevailing law and order situation in the country. Government should aim at curbing the crime rate against women and provide the justice to the pending cases immediately before going ahead with the Factories Amendment Bill. It would be wiser for the females to work in day shifts in Factories unlike BPOs who get the office cab facility for their transportation.

  • rather than curbing the rights of women, government should focus more on improving the disgusting state of law and order in the country. crimes against women are increasing day by day irrespective of day or night. so its utter nonsense that if women don't work in night shifts their safety would prevail

  • To maintain women stand par with men , they should not prevent from work at nights.
because in present age women prove their worth in every field of work and such prevention takes the economy of the country in backward direction.
So, govt. should take stern steps & make strict laws for women safety.

  • Women empowerment, the word is gaining noise from last few years. Women keep on asking for equal rights with men. There are complaints that women don’t get their fair share of rights. However, when women are kept at par with men and assigned the same responsibilities, again they want to get benefits on terms of being women. They contradict the concept of women empowerment. It is the same case when it comes to working in night shifts.

Men and women take the same degree. They have got same experience of working on the given role. So when it comes to working in night shifts why the whole burden goes on the men? What is so wrong about when women are said to work in night shifts.

Telling that the women safety is at stake is no valid answer. Women are not even safe in day time. The equal safety risks exist in day as well as night time. The intelligence quotient of men and women work is same in night. And it is the women who have chosen to work. So, she has not right to complain about family problems. If the night duty adversely affects the women health, it also affects the men health. In any case, there is no reason why the women should get the additional benefits in the professional world.

  • I am against the favour of the topic that women should almost not prefer to work in night shifts..today in this era of modern world women is considered almost equal to men in almost every field so its not correct to deprive her of working within the boundries..instead of this strict laws should be made with regard to the protection of women so they can also live their life to the fullest...nd prove to the world that no person nd no thing can stop them
