Artificial Intelligence Deserves Person-hood And Rights

Artificial Intelligence Deserves Person-hood And Rights

Two days back, Stephen Hawking, one of Britain’s renowned scientists warned that artificial intelligence could end mankind. He said that the development of full artificial intelligence can become a cause for the end of human race. There are other people who think it as a positive force and a certain reality in the future. The term ‘artificial intelligence’ was first introduced by John McCarthy in 1956. Let us discuss today the topic that is the favorite research subject of scientists. Do you think Artificial Intelligence Deserves Person-hood And Rights?

Yes
• If it allows the machines to complete the work and perform the functions exactly like humans, there is no problem in providing it required rights.

• A large workforce can be trained and prepared for certain tasks and even the artificial independence follows the similar concept.

• The argument that artificial intelligence is not related to emotions stands invalid here as even in human race it is the practical decisions that are valued more than emotional decisions.

• Sentience factor had to be paid utmost attention as denying the right based on fears is not a wise idea.

• Technically the answer is yes; as it is said by Boethius any substance that shows rational nature deserves person-hood and rights.

No

• Humans take a natural break in between works but unlike humans machines can don’t need any breaks and can complete job in the blink of an eye.

• Human race works on heart and mind, intelligence and emotions whereas artificial intelligence is not based on emotions.

• The artificial machines are not independent and do not follow the natural standards and levels of innovation.

• No matter how advance a machine is it can always be hacked and anything that can be hacked versus trained cannot be given any rights.

• The machines can break down any time leaving all the tasks incomplete. It is a thing made and run by human.

Conclusion

Everything comes with own share of pros and cons, and artificial intelligence is no exception. Its advantages force patrons to follow it whereas disadvantages lead the skeptics to get more vocal about their arguments. Artificial intelligence is called as one of the greatest existential threat, and anything that becomes a danger to human life do not deserves person-hoods and rights.

  • Artifical intelligence, as the name implies is artificial. So, there is no point in providing any rights to an artificial substance. Rights are the authorities given to those who can percieve, analyse, and introspect the situations. It would be like digging our own pit by providing the authority to machines.

Humans should rule the machines and not the vice versa. Providing pwrson-hood to artificial intelligence is like being slaves to machines. Any non-living thing can just equate the substancial things in universe. Life being far more than material aspect and emotions playing the most crucial role in human life, artificial intelligence can be no comparison to human brain.

Humans have created the artificial intelligence and they need to keep the machines under control. Human organs too undergo wear and tear, and they also have to withstand the unpredicted casualities. But their loss does not wipe all the data as a machine storage. The wear and tear of a machine would cause immense loss than the human black outs. Thus, it is an unnecessary discussion for providing person-hood or rights tp artificial intelligence.
