About optional subjects in civil services interview

I had chosen different optional subjects from the subject in which I graduated. Do I need to revise on those subjects as well for the questions in the interview?

Answer:
You need not refer to the study materials of the optional subjects or the subjects you graduated or post graduated in. Yes, the examiner will ask you questions related to these subjects but the questions will not be theoretical in nature. The main examination is designed to test your theoretical knowledge. You will need to focus on the fundamental aspects and basic of the subjects if you have for long not been studying those instead of going bogged over the factual contents of the discipline. These are some areas of your subjects that you can refer to for the interview preparations:

- Latest developments in that field
- Trending news on any sort of changes made in that subject
- Areas of research
- Prizes and achievements in the field and other discoveries
- National and international agreements or events related to that subject.
