Amazon Placement Experience & Process for Freshers - 2016

Amazon - an American electronic commerce and cloud computing company visited our college in Chennai to recruit for its Customer Service Process.

They hire both freshers and experienced candidates. But for this post they needed freshers.

They only allowed candidates who have completed their graduation successfully persuing the commerce stream.

Around 250 candidates appeared for the selection process.

Important things they wanted us to carry:
  • Resume
  • Two passport size photographs
  • One original Government ID proof
  • Graduation certificate
The company carried out its selection process in following steps:

First, they conducted a JAM session or personal introduction to assess our verbal and communication skills. It was just an introductory part.

After that, there was an online test where we were tested for our English grammar, sentence correction, proficiency in English and typing skills.

Qualified candidates were called for versant test. In this we were given a topic on which we had to think and speak in 25 minutes. In this, they were analyzing our listening, speaking and behavourial skills.

In this round, you should have answers related to the situations given to you. Presence of mind plays an important role in this round.

After completing this round, we were required to choose between voice and non-voice.

Those who opted for voice had to take a versant test for voice clarity, pronunciation and fluency in English.

This round lasted for 10 minutes. It covered questions from passages, sentence correction & repetition. These questions have to be answered in one to two words.

Those who chose non-voice appeared for an HR interview, it being the final round for them. General questions and one situation based question were asked in this round.

Some questions asked in HR interview were:
  • Introduce yourself
  • A situation was given related to problem solving or resolving a customer's issue and the candidates were required to offer an answer from their understanding.
Some basic questions like the following were also asked:
  • Why do you chose this post at Amazon?
  • How many times have you ordered your product from Amazon?
  • Having other shopping sites, why do you prefer Amazon?
  • Where do you see yourself after 5 years?
  • What do you know about team work and working efficiently?
For candidates who chose voice versant test, had fourth and final round as HR interview.

This is how the selection process came to an end and approximately 60 students got selected for the required post.

Some tips that will help you crack the test and interview:
  • Carry all your important documents required to the company.
  • Get some knowledge about the history of the company.
  • Practice in front of mirror to speak for the versant test.
  • Be prepared with some of the case studies or scenarios for the interview
