  • Introduction

Aeronautical engineering is the branch of Aerospace Engineering. It is one of the most challenging and growing field which deals with modern technology involved in research, aviation, defence systems and space technology. It consists of several different phases of designing, constructing, developing, testing and maintenance for commercial as well as for other technological fields such as spacecrafts, aircrafts with their components. A career in this requires designing of highly sophisticated technology system and then manufacture it. It requires both manual and technical people to carry out day to day operation, for this people are divided in teams and they work under the supervision of senior engineers. It also requires good aptitude, mathematical communication skills and technical expertise. It is one of the highly paid field but the work is demanding as well. Aeronautical engineering requires high level of physical fitness and dedication to carry out the work at top-most level. This field has a wide scope in Aviation Sectors, Aircraft Manufacturing Industries, Defence research labs and other Development area.

Performance and growth of industry in India

Aeronautical Engineering is one of the very sophisticated filed. This career in India is growing rapidly to catch up the competition with other countries. The history go long way back to 1942 when IIS (Indian Institute of Science- Bangalore) offered post-graduation courses in aeronautical engineering since then it is one of the growing and interesting field. According to a report published every year approximately 350,000 engineer graduates are required good industries. The career has grown in recent years and now it is on the verge of expanding more. This career is also growing in aviation industry as it has recorded annual growth of over 41% in passenger traffic during in the last two years. It has established Defence aviation of India through design, manufacture and other fields. There is potential growth and opportunities in this career as to provide facilities for civil, military, maintenance and production for aviation industry.

    Options and Opportunities

Aeronautical engineers can work in areas like design, development, research, implementation and maintenance. They are also suitable for the managerial as well as teaching posts in institutes. Their demand is being on rise in the field of airlines, aircraft manufacturing units, consulting and design firms. They can apply with pubic and private sectors in the field of airline services as well as aircraft manufacturing units.
