Are distance learning courses good and effective to acquire foreign language?

There are plenty of distance learning courses available to acquire competence in Foreign Language. One can enrol in either in diploma or degree course as per his/her need. Though it is always harder to learner something as tough as language through a distance learning mode rather than the conventional classes, it is worth. With distance learning and correspondence
courses, one can be proficient in written form of language which greatly helps in jobs like content writing and translation. However one needs to hear the language spoken and participate in conversation to take hold of the language, which is not possible in distance learning courses due to lack of infrastructural set up. It is advised that if one gets enrolled in a distance learning course, then he/she should enhance his/her knowledge by supplementing it with audios and videos, which are quite easily available on the internet.
