Farther: It is used when a lot of distance is implied.

E.g.

Chennai is farther from Surat from the Tropic of Cancer.

Or, The book on the top shelf is farther than my reach.

Further: This is used when something additional is inferred

E.g. We must begin the seminar without further delay. Or, The little boy recited the poem without further interruption.
