Fidelity Placement Experience and Process for Freshers - 2016

Fidelity, one of the largest financial services providers, specializes into investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing and other financial products.

300 students appeared for the placement test of Fidelity. The positions they were recruiting for were Data Engineering and Quality Assurance Professionals.

The selection process was carried out in four steps:

1. Aptitude Test
2. Technical Round
3. Behavioural Round
4. HR Round

1. Aptitude Test

Aptitude test was divided into three sections:
  • Quantitative Aptitude & DI for 30 minutes.
  • English for 30 minutes.
  • Technical questions for 15 minutes.
The technical questions were based on the topics of C, C++ and RDBMS.

2. Technical Round

Those students who cleared the aptitude test were sent for the technical interview. Questions asked were on basic programming, testing and DBMS.

Questions on respective projects and the individual contributions to the project were common for all of us.

3. Behavioural Round

Next was behavioural round in which students were tested on the basis of crisis management and communication skills. The questions were related to daily happenings and current affairs. Some of them were asked technical questions also.

This round was just to check your interaction and behaviour among the group of candidates.

Topics were related to talkies, business and science & technology.

4. HR Round

The last round was interview with HR manager and one of the technical employees of Fidelity. Questions asked to me were basic:
  • Introduce yourself.
  • Tell us something about yourself which you have not mentioned in your resume.
  • Why do you want to work for Fidelity?
  • When was Fidelity founded and a few other questions about the company.
  • Will you be able to relocate to Bangalore?
All were eliminatory rounds except behavioural round.

At the end, 85 students made it to the final list of selected candidates.

Some tips that can help you perform well and secure a place at Fidelity:
  • Take the mock tests to realize your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Don't waste your time on time-consuming questions. Move on to the next question if you have struck a wall.
  • Prepare DBMS and Software Testing subjects well, if you are appearing for these positions. They won't ask much of programming questions for these positions.
  • For behavioural round you need to prepare on general topics related to science, business and talkies.
  • Each round will be eliminatory round. So, ensure that you give your best shot to stay in game till the end.
