What are the industries that I can target after I have done my graduation in rural management?


Companies that absorb qualified candidates include oilseeds cooperatives, milk producers’ cooperatives, sugar cane producers’ cooperatives, etc. There are various positions in UN and its specialised agencies or programmes run by them that require the services of qualified students. International NGOs are also a preferred destination for many rural managers or qualified personnel. After you have done your graduation you can take up research, advisory, and consultancy work with public and private organisations. As you have done you graduation in rural management another option opens for you i.e. you can run your own NGO and be associated with rural people. Rural management professionals are well known to be hired by industries, companies supplying fresh and processed produce, seeds, fertilizers, and animal feed stuff, veterinary products and equipment.

Banks, insurance companies and various other finance institutions as well as research and consultancy firms also recruit students by campus recruitment. Various institutes have their own campus placement procedure that they religiously follow. If you are hired through campus placement then the chances of getting a good company increases exponentially. Companies like Tata Teleservices, Amul, Monsanto, Shriram Group, NABARD and ICICI Bank offer placements to students. Rural managers are hired for agro-based businesses and for managing their corporate social responsibility initiatives related to rural development.

Government is also taking part in upgrading rural sector, by investing huge amounts for the development of the people living in rural areas. All Five Year Plans were focused towards the specials benefit of the rural community. Apart from the Government of India, many voluntary agencies, banks and private companies are supporting rural development and rural management.
