Career is a sequence of positions held by a person during the course of lifetime. It is a series of work related activities that provide continuity, order and meaning of a person’s life. A career consists of changes in values, attitudes and motivation.

Career development consists of the personal actions one undertake to achieve a career plan. It looks at the long term career effectiveness of the employees. The actions for career development may be initiated by individual himself or by the organization.
