What newspaper/magazine/book do you read?

- Browse through the newspaper that morning they might ask you what was the front page headline, they might ask you your favorite columnists name
- Same goes for the magazine, make sure you have read the last edition
- When giving names of books, remember the author(s) name(s) and be ready to give out some summary of the book

  • Mention standards newspapers and magazines but only if your really read them. They want to know if you keep up with the current happenings and recent trends that are being developed. If you have done good research on the company, you should know if they have been in news lately so be prepared to be asked about it if you are mentioning newspapers and magazines where they made an appearance. If you do not get enough time to read newspapers, instead of bluffing, be honest and tell them that. You might prefer blogs and news websites to keep up with current happenings so you can mention that along with the fact that you find them handy and easy to read even while commuting.
Mention the books you recently read. If the book is popular and someone in the interviewer's panel had read it, you might also be asked a question or two from the context. In any case, do not bluff. If you are not an avid reader, mention that. You can mention books that are related to the business you are going to be in or if you have read it and find it to be inspiring or helpful in any way.

Unless you are being interviewed for the publication or journalism industry, a negative answer should not make much of a difference. However, give them an impression that you do believe that these help a great deal in every field but due to time management issues, you haven't been able to allot much time to them.
