What role does the marketing department play in an organisation?



The marketing department is the life-blood of any organisation without which it is impossible for the organisation to survive. The other departments like human resources, finance, information technology are also very much dependent upon the marketing department for their existence. The marketing department acts as the ‘face’ of the organisation and gives an identity to it. It plays a crucial role in generating sales and revenue to the organisation via its different activities like advertising, promotion,distribution, research . It build up the image for the company and thus helps in reaching out to the prospective customers and the target market.

  • Marketing department is responsible for over all marketing activities in order to make the awareness of the company products or services to it's targeted and prospective customers. Marketing department is responsible for interacting with advertising companies such as TV, media, Magazines and other related organizations. Marketing department is also responsible for the playing crucial role in doing research in the market pertaining the company competitors status, company product weakness and strong points, new opportunities, need and demand and the customers feedback which need these all to be leaked back and reported to the top management within the organization.
