Who are physiotherapists?


Physiotherapy is a health care profession and physiotherapists are the professional who practice the profession of physiotherapy. They mainly work with someone after injury, accident or surgery or may work to prevent injury. Thus are the health care professional who specializes in prevention or alleviation of movement dysfunction of people.

How to become a physiotherapist?


There are two ways to become a physiotherapist:

1) Self-learning pathway: this requires good clinical experience and excellent examination process.
2) Course pathway: this requires formal qualification in physiotherapy and internship.

There are two levels of qualification in physiotherapy:

i. Bachelor of physiotherapy which is of 4 and a half year duration which is inclusive of internship.
ii. Master of physiotherapy which is of two years duration.

What is the eligibility?


One must have cleared 10+2 or equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and biology at intermediate level. Some of the reputed colleges and institutes have criteria of entrance examination and 50% marks at the 10+2 level to take admission in the B.Sc.(Physiotherapy) degree course.
To pursue Master in Physiotherapy one must have Bachelor of physiotherapy degree.
