This policy explains what personal information CareerRide Info, Pune, Maharashtra ("CareerRide", "we", "us") collects on careerride.com, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. By using CareerRide you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. It should be read with our Terms of Use.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form). You can also add a mobile number, college, degree, graduation year, city and a profile picture, and choose a target exam, an exam date, a daily practice goal and whether you want email notifications.
- Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, email address and a Google account ID. We do not get your Google password.
- Messages and reports: anything you write to us, including error reports, feedback and support requests.
Information created when you use CareerRide
- Ebooks and orders: the ebooks you buy or claim (your My Ebooks library), when you downloaded or opened them and how many downloads you have used, and your orders, including the name and email on the invoice, the state you select at checkout (used to work out the GST on your invoice), the amount, any coupon used, GST details and the invoice number.
- Test activity: the tests you start and finish, your answers, time spent on each question, scores, marks, results, bookmarks, certificates and performance and weak-area reports.
- Test integrity signals: to keep scores fair we record signals such as very fast answering, switching browser tabs or windows, and the mouse leaving the test window during a test.
- Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type (user agent), pages visited, the time of visits, and a login session token. We also keep error logs to fix problems.
Payment information
If you buy a plan or an ebook, payment is processed by Razorpay (see section 6). We receive confirmation of the payment, its amount, date, status and a reference number. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net-banking details.
2. How we use it
- To create and run your account and let you sign in.
- To provide the tests, results, review pages, bookmarks, certificates, reports, leaderboards and percentiles. Where leaderboards are shown, your display name and score may be visible to other users.
- To process payments, give you access to the plan or ebook you bought, issue tax invoices and receipts (including working out the right GST from your state), and apply the ebook download limit.
- To send you messages about your account, such as email verification, password reset and receipts, and important notices about the service. We send marketing messages only if you have agreed, and you can opt out at any time.
- To detect cheating, fraud, abuse and security problems, and to apply our Terms of Use.
- To understand how the site is used and to improve our content, tests and features.
- To show advertising that helps keep much of the site free.
- To meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
We process your information with your consent, to provide the service you asked for, and where the law allows or requires it. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. CareerRide uses:
| Type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Essential | Keeps you signed in (a secure login cookie), remembers your session, and helps check that your browser can run the site. The site doesn't work properly without them. |
| Preference | Remembers the state you chose at checkout (in a cookie called cr_buyer_state, for one year) so you don't have to pick it again. |
| Analytics | Google Analytics helps us see which pages are used and how, in aggregate form. |
| Advertising | Google and its partners use cookies to show and measure ads, and may personalise them (see section 5). |
| Embedded media | YouTube videos can set their own cookies when you play them. |
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block essential cookies you won't be able to sign in or take tests.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only as needed, with:
- Service providers that help us run CareerRide: hosting and database providers, an email delivery service, Razorpay for payments, and Google for sign-in, analytics and ads. They may use the information only to provide their service to us, or as set out in their own policies where they act on their own.
- Authorities or other parties where the law requires, or to protect our rights, the safety of users or the security of the site, or to deal with fraud or abuse.
- A buyer or successor, if the business is ever sold or reorganised. We will tell you if your information is affected.
We do not sell your personal information or give it to third parties for their own marketing.
5. Advertising
CareerRide shows ads from Google AdSense and its advertising partners. These companies may use cookies and similar technologies, and information about your visits to this and other sites, to show ads that are relevant to you. You can control personalised ads in Google's Ads Settings and learn more at Google's advertising policy page. We don't give advertisers your name or email address.
6. Payments
Payments are processed by Razorpay Software Private Limited, which collects your payment details directly on its secure checkout. Razorpay's own privacy policy applies to that information.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account information and test history for as long as your account is open, so you can see your progress. If you ask us to close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable time, except what we must keep for legal, tax, accounting or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, orders and GST invoices, which we keep for the period the law requires). Backups and server logs are removed on a regular cycle.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including hashed passwords, secure login cookies, limits on repeated failed logins and restricted access to data. No website can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Choose a strong password, keep it private, and sign out on shared devices. If you think your account has been compromised, tell us straight away.
9. Your rights and choices
Under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- ask for a summary of the personal information we hold about you and how it is used;
- correct or update inaccurate information (you can edit most details in your profile);
- ask us to delete your information and close your account;
- withdraw consent you gave us, for example for marketing messages. This does not affect what we did before you withdrew it;

10. Children
