One of the biggest challenges employers face in today’s market is the high attrition rates. If you are the HR Manager of one such company which faces a high attrition rate – ask yourself the following questions, as these are the most common causes of people switching jobs. 

  1. Have you placed the right people at right place? Just filling up the vacancy doesn’t help. 
  2. Do you offer an attractive and competitive salary?
  3. Do you offer other benefits to the employees like flexible working hours, medical insurance etc.? 
  4. Does working for you provide them a balance of work and personal life? – Flexi timings can help. 
  5. Do you have enough people to prevent people from working long hours? 
  6. Do you appreciate good performance? More importantly, does the salary of the employee also say this? 
  7. Do you show respect to employees? – Listening to their opinions, ideas, using their skills matters.

  9. Is there some fun involved with work? – You can have some celebrations and festivals to keep the spirits high.

  15. Are you perceived as a fair employer by the employees? 
  16. Do your line managers provide clear and achievable targets? And do they help employees in achieving them? 
  17. Are the bonus schemes or information about earning potentials clear to all employees? 
  18. Do you threaten the job security of the employees to improve their performance? 
  19. Do the line managers notice every employee under them? Are they aware about the work they are doing? Does any employee feel un-noticed? 
  20. Do your employees want to come to work everyday? In other words, is absenteeism a problem for you? What actions have you taken to prevent this? 

Your answers to these questions will tell you the reasons for high attrition rates in your company? Think over the answers you have provided and take corrective measures to retain the employees.
