Shree Pundalik was the first Indian movie to be released in India. The movie was made by Dadasaheb Torne and it was released on 18 May, 1912 at the Coronaon Cinematograph in Bombay. It was a silent film without the dialouge. Torne's film was just a few minutes shorter than Phalke's Raja Harishchandra. Torne was also known as Ramchandra Gopal.
