    Micro hardness test is used to measure hardness of thin brittle materials. They use lighter loads and small indentations. They use 'Knoop' indentor and is diamond cone type.

    This test requires highly polished surfaces. Entire hardness range is covered under one scale.

    Applications: Checks hardness of watch gares, powder particles, razor blades. Checks different phases of microstructure.

    Knoop Hardness Number = P/ (L2 C)
    here,
    P = applied load
    L = length of longer diagonal
    C = constant value
