Random errors are called as compensating errors. Error signs of these errors may be positive or negative hence these errors may cancel each other. Overall effect of random errors is much lower. Laws of probability are followed by random errors and are handled by statistical analysis of test data.

Systematic errors have same sign and these errors add up to a cumulative value. Hence systematic errors are called as cumulative errors. Overall effect of systematic errors is large on measured quantity as these errors add up.
