    While performing screening test, different methods are adopted for improving the reliability of the system. Some of them are parts improvement method, structural redundancy,effective & creative design and derating of components.

    In parts improvement method, improved production techniques along with an automation are applied. Hence, it either improves improves the reliability of all constituent components or the critical components are identified followed by the improvement in their reliability.

    Structural redundancy consists of duplication of paths at the component or sub-system level and acts as an ultimate solution in the absence of highly overrated components.

    Effective and creative design implies the designing of components by considering the factors which contribute to system reliability. Since the failure rate of all components exhibit variations with respect to their operating stresses, it can be reduced by the utility of over-rated components in accordance to effective designing of components.

    Derating of components specifies the limitation of operating condition up to 50% of maximum rating. Due to this method, system reliability is considerably ameliorated. For an illustration- 1W resistor should consume only upto 0.5 W of the power dissipation.
