    Given: velocity = 5 m/s, weight of man = 60 kg

    Formula: Force = mg + ma

    Solution:

    According to Newton's 2nd law, rate of change of linear momentum is directly proportional to impressed force.

    Force = mg + ma

    As lift moves with constant velocity, acceleration (a) =0

    Substituting the given values,

    Force = mg

    = 60 x 9.81

    = 588.6 N

    The reactive force acting on the man by the elevator is 588.6 N.
