    force applied in sudden loading is twice the force applied gradually
    F'=2F
    Formulae -stress=2F/A
    F=2000KN
    A=2500 mm2

    Given: Area of bar = 2500 mm2 , load applied = 2000 kN

    Formula: σ = (2F/A)

    Solution:

    σ = (2F/A)

    = (2 x 2000 x 103) / 2500

    = 1600 N/mm2

    Maximum stress induced in a bar due to suddenly applied load is 1600 N/mm2
