Given: Diameter (Maximum principle stress theory) = 70 mm, diameter (Maximum shear stress theory) = 73 mm

Maximum diameter is considered while designing a shaft. Diameter obtained according maximum principle stress theory is 70 mm and diameter obtained by maximum shear stress theory is 73 mm.

    - Hence, diameter obtained by maximum shear stress theory is considered.
