Q.  A straight bevel gear pinion rotates at 800 r.p.m transmitting power of 15 kW to the bevel gear. If pitch circle diameter of pinion is 130 mm and face width is 30 mm, then what is the tangential force acting on mean pitch circle?

    Given: γp = 23o, γg = 53o, b = 30 mm, dmp = 130 mm, np = 800 rpm

    Formula: rmp = (d/2) – (b sin γp /2)
    = 59.13

    Formula:Vm = (2πrmp np) / 60 x 1000)
    = 4.95 m/s

    Tangential force Ft = P/Vm = 3030.30 N
