Reliability and cost are the two significant factors which are closely inter-related to each other. The cost at the different stages exhibit different relationship with the reliability.

At the initial level, the design and development cost increases with an increasing reliability because of the necessity of critical designing approach and the exhaustive testing of equipments. Even, the production cost exhibits directly proportional nature with respect to reliability.

If the reliability of the product is '1',then the maintenance and repair cost is minimum. Hence, this concludes that the maintenance and repair costing is inversely proportional to reliability.
