    - Cycloidal tooth profiles have double curvatures whereas involute tooth profiles have single curvatures. Cycloidal tooth profiles have no interference problem.

    - These profiles have less wear as convex faces engage with concave flanks. As these profiles have wider flanks they have more strength compared to involute profiles. But as they have double curvatures, it is difficult to manufacture them.

    - Involute tooth profiles can be easily manufactured. These profiles have high wear and have high possibility of interference.
