The Union Government has notified the UIDAI (Terms and Conditions of Service of Chairperson and Member) Rules to provide legal shape to Unique Identification Authority of India.
  • The rules have been framed as per provisions of Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and other subsidies, benefits and services) Act 2016 for the appointment of chairperson and members.
  • The UIDAI chairman will be selected on the basis of recommendation of a committee headed by the Cabinet Secretary.
  • UIDAI was set by by GoI in January 2009 under the control of the Planning Commission.
