    - Indicator method is used to measure squareness of an object.

    - It checks whether the four phases of a rectangle or square are perpendicular to adjacent faces.

    - This method uses a tool designed by NPL. It consists framework of parallel strips with a flat base. The knife edge and an indicator are mounted on the tool. The height of the indicator makes contact with the block on face one and the test is conducted. Later on the opposite surface is tested and readings are noted. If the two sides of the block are parallel the readings obtained on both faces are equal.
