    - In any design process, mechanical elements are subjected to high momentary torque or load and this torque is represented by a factor known as service factor or application factor or overload factor.

    - The ratio of maximum torque and average torque or maximum load and average load is called as service factor or application factor.

    - This factor depends upon prime mover, driven machine, or hours of operation per day.

    - Torque: It is defined as the tendency of force to rotate an object about an axis.
