It''s not (30-25) in the above formula. It is (30-5).

Detail sol of above problem

My method is different from that of formula (it is better if you remember that formula in comp. Exams).

So, 30L milk is in container, 0L water in container initially.

5L of milk taken out and replaced by same quantity of water ,
Milk left=(30-5)=25L.,. Water =5L

Now this is repeated twice , but now 5L of mixture will be taken out (Now in container there is mixture of milk &water)

So, 1) Milk in the mixture taken out=(25/30)*5=4.16L
So milk left= (25-4.16)= 20.84L. , Water = 9.16L (30-20.84)

2) M:W= 20.84:9.16

Quantity of milk taken out now from mixture= (20.84/20.84+9.16)*5 or (20.84/30)*5= 3.4733L of milk taken out now

So milk left now =( 20.84- 3.4733)= 17.367L

So milk left after second step= 17.367 L , water left = 12.6L

sol question 1

initial quantity of milk(A)=30L
amount of milk replaced by water in one operation (B)=5L
no of operation=3
formula: (Q)Quantity of milk left after n operations/A =[(A-B)/A]^n
Q=30[(30-25)/30]^3
on solving we get Q=17.36
